Handball Challenge

Uplivion Technologies GmbH was a Berlin-based startup, of which I was a founding member. As a company, Uplivion collaborated with the Mathematical Geometry Processing Unit at the Freie Universit├Ąt Berlin to develop a user-friendly API and intelligent streaming technology. This enabled boxed console and PC games to seamlessly run within web browsers.

We had partnerships with various Berlin-based game companies, including Neutron Games GmbH and Exozet Games GmbH to host their games in the cloud and stream their back catalogue of games to the web browser. The business idea was that users could instantly access and play these games with a single click, eliminating the need for time-consuming downloads. Handball Challenge was the first of these games that was hosted in this way using our SDK.

Uplivion won first prize in the Businessplan-Wettbewerbs Berlin-Brandenburg (Berlin-Brandenburg Business Plan Competition). While we secured funding for the initial year, subsequent fundraising efforts were insufficient and we eventually decided to wind up the business. Nonetheless, the experience was invaluable and extremely rewarding.
